Featuring Paul Garcia - Where Heritage Meets Heart
FACES OF THE FARM Series
Meet Paul Garcia, a cornerstone of the American Apple family for nearly nine years. His story embodies the deep roots, generational values, and community connections that make our operation truly special.
Growing Up in Agriculture
Paul's agricultural foundation was laid early on his family's 150-acre cherry farm between Hart and Shelby. Working alongside his father, he learned not just the mechanics of farming, but the character-building values that would shape his entire life.
His father, the second youngest of 12 children, had to fight for his place and developed an "unbelievable work ethic" that became legendary in their community. This legacy of determination and perseverance runs through everything Paul does today.
Family Traditions Continue
Paul's commitment to family extends beyond his agricultural roots. Married to his high school sweetheart Jen for 22 years (she was a grade below him and had a secret crush that she never revealed!), Paul has brought his two sons into the farming family. Mason, 19, and Riley, 21, both work alongside their father, continuing the tradition of multiple generations working the land together.
A Community Built on History
What makes American Apple unique isn't just what they grow—it's who grows it. Paul explains the special dynamic: "We didn't all just pick whoever, or you know, just, 'Hey, look good on paper, let's hire this guy.'" Instead, the team is built on decades of relationships.
Paul graduated with Caleb's wife Sarah. The longest-tenured employee has been with Caleb for 25-26 years, since farming began. Their families have known each other for generations—parents, grandparents, the whole community web of connections that creates something far deeper than just employment.
Pride in the Process
"There's just a lot of people that don't realize what it takes to get from the orchard into the stores onto their kitchen table," Paul reflects. The pride he and his colleagues take in their work shows in every step of the process. When customers see the American Apple logo, Paul hopes they'll understand they're getting something special—not an imported product, but fruits grown right in their hometown by people who care deeply about quality.
Carrying Forward a Legacy
Paul lost his father to cancer four years ago, but his influence remains strong. His father's life philosophy guides Paul daily: "You work hard. Things don't always work out like you plan, but don't give up. Just keep pushing. Good things will come."
This wisdom, combined with the family atmosphere at American Apple, creates an environment where everyone supports each other. "We all lean on each other here," Paul says simply.
The Heart of Local Agriculture
Paul's story represents the best of American agriculture—where community connections run deep, family values are passed down through generations, and taking pride in your work means everything. When you choose American Apple products, you're not just buying fruit; you're supporting a way of life that values relationships, hard work, and the belief that good things come to those who don't give up.
